Yes, this is the same federal government that has cautioned the nation about egg consumption for four decades, citing raised cholesterol risks. The newest guidelines, released last week, removed those decades-long restrictions on dietary cholesterol.
Turns out those hipster gastro pubs that crown every dish with an egg were onto something.
The report’s most strident message addressed the nation’s love affair with sugar, advising Americans to keep added sugars to less than 10 percent of their daily calories. Also key were warnings about sodium, saturated fats and sodium risks.
But eggs – and, gasp, meat – they’re alright.
